Blooming Success in 2018

Blooming Success in 2018

The hard work of the Seaton Valley In Bloom Groups was rewarded at the annual Northumbria In Bloom presentations that took place last week.

The floral planting and well-kept parks and public spaces resulted in a number of awards for all of the villages.

Holywell Village was declared most improved entry and they also won silver gilt in the best large village category with New Hartley and Seghill both winning silver.

Seaton Sluice also scooped silver gilt in the coastal resort category.  Seaton Delaval won bronze in the best small town category.

A special Community Champion award was given to Dave Symington, who is a Team Leader from the County Council’s Neighbourhood Services Team.  Dave has supported the Seaton Valley In Bloom groups for the past 40 years and has made a ‘truly outstanding contribution’.

There were also lots of winners from Seaton Valley in the other Special Categories, including education establishments, pubs and hotels and churches.

All of the winning categories are on our Northumbria In Bloom webpage along with photographs from the Awards Ceremony.
