On Saturday night we held our final Christmas Lights switch on event at the Memorial Hall in New Hartley.
All of the Christmas Lights have now been switched on in Seaton Valley villages at separate events over the past two weeks.
As with previous years, we ran our annual Christmas Lights competition held in conjunction with the village First Schools. The winner from each school gets their winning design made into a light and they get to switch their own light on at their village event. They are joined by the runners up to switch on the lights of the village Christmas tree.
The events started in Seghill on 23 November and were followed by Seaton Sluice, Seaton Delaval, Holywell and the final event at New Hartley.
There was an excellent turn-out by residents to support the events with a definite increase in attendance from previous years.
Entertainment included the Chilli Road Band, carol signing, a Magician and entertainer, free roast chestnuts, mulled wine and mince pies and a couple of free prize draws for the children. At Seaton Delaval the crowd were also entertained by a short performance from the Seaton Delaval Pantomime Society from their presentation of Jack and the Beanstalk.
