Miss Mary Nesbitt celebrated her 100th Birthday on 19 August surrounded by her family and friends.
Mary was born in Astley Road and has lived in Seaton Delaval all of her life. She started work when she was just 12 years old, working at Nicholson’s in Seaton Delaval on a Friday night and a Saturday. During the Second World War Mary was in the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) and served in Durham and in London.
Mary has been a life-long member of the church and regularly attended St Stephen’s Church, at the top of Double Row until it closed in 1923. She now attends Holy Trinity Church in Seghill and has many friends who she has made through the church.
As part of her birthday celebrations, Mary was presented with some flowers and a card by the Chair and Vice Chair of Seaton Valley Council, Cllr. Stephen Stanners and Cllr. Barbara Burt.
Mary celebrated her special birthday with her family and friends at a party at Holy Trinity Church Hall.
