Seaton Sluice Bowling Club hosted the annual Seaton Valley Challenge Trophy bowls match on Sunday 6 September at the Seaton Sluice Bowling Green in the Memorial Park on Beresford Road.
The annual event sees the bowling clubs of Seaton Delaval and Seaton Sluice go up against each other in the Seaton Valley Challenge Trophy match that is sponsored by Seaton Valley Council.
It was beautiful weather for the match and both teams fielded strong sides made up of members of the Ladies and Men’s teams from both of the bowling clubs.
This was the third Challenge Trophy match between the two clubs. The match was fiercely fought with Seaton Sluice coming out as the winners taking them to a two to one lead in the series of games.
After the game, the Challenge Trophy was presented to the Chair of Seaton Sluice Bowing Club, Bryan Dexter, by Cllr. Susan Dungworth, Chair of the Council and Hartley Ward Parish Councillor.
Cllr. Dungworth said: “This is such a wonderful event and it is great to see so many players, both male and female, coming together playing for the Challenge Trophy.”
Bryan Dexter said: “I’d like to thank all of the players from Seaton Delaval Bowling Club for such a good match. Everyone has enjoyed the game and we look forward to the return match next year.”
Following the presentation, players from both clubs enjoyed a buffet and the chance to socialise.
If anyone is interested in joining the bowling clubs, please get in touch with the council and we will pass on your details to the relevant club.
