Allotment Open Week 2026 Offers Residents Chance to Secure a Plot

Seaton Valley Community Council is encouraging residents to take advantage of a special opportunity to secure an allotment plot during Allotment Open Week 2026, taking place from 10 to 13 August 2026.

The Council currently has more than 30 vacant plots available across several allotment sites and is offering a reduced deposit of £50 for a limited period to encourage new tenants to get involved.

Residents are invited to attend one of a series of open evenings to view available plots and learn more about becoming an allotment tenant. Plots will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, and no appointment is necessary for the resident open events.

Whether you’re an experienced gardener or new to growing your own fruit and vegetables, an allotment can provide fresh produce, outdoor exercise and an opportunity to become part of a thriving local community.

Open Week Viewing Dates

  • Monday, 10th August: By Invitation Only. Reserved for residents on the current waiting list. Appointments must be booked in advance. All sites.
  • Tuesday, 11th August, 5pm to 7pm: Resident Open Event. No appointment necessary.  Baxter Place, Beresford Road and West Terrace allotment sites.
  • Wednesday, 12th August, 5pm to 7pm: Resident Open Event. No appointment necessary.  Victoria, Seaton Terrace and Dartford allotment sites.
  • Thursday, 13th August, 5pm to 7pm: Resident Open Event. No appointment necessary. Seghill Road allotment site.

The opportunity is open to Seaton Valley residents only. Anyone interested in taking on a plot can simply attend one of the advertised sessions.

🌱 Allotment Open Week Update 🌱

Thank you to everyone who has attended our Allotment Open Week,

We have been delighted with the level of interest, and all plots available at the Monday and Tuesday sessions were snapped up quickly.

There are still 19 plots available for tonight’s open evening at the Seaton Terrace, Dartford and Victoria Allotment Sites.

We also have just one plot currently available for tomorrow’s event at Seghill Road Site. However, we will also be available tomorrow to show any plots that remain unallocated following this week’s open events.

All plots are offered on a first come, first served basis, so we encourage anyone interested to come along and take a look before they’re gone.
